Overview
Markless reads, edits, organizes and exports documents you choose to provide. Optional iCloud document sync is off by default. No advertising, analytics or tracking SDK, AI generation service or developer-operated document server is integrated. The developer has no document-management dashboard for browsing your files.

On-device data
Imported originals, extracted ZIP contents, inlined offline resources, document names, folders, favorites, search indexes, reading positions, preferences, thumbnails and temporary exports are stored in app storage on your device. Ordinary recent history keeps 20 items. Favorites, folder documents and saved copies stay until you delete them. Local drafts and Trash also use device storage and can be managed in Settings. Trash has no automatic expiry or capacity-eviction rule. Drafts help recover unsaved edits when you reopen the editor or use Local Drafts in Settings. Cancel discards the current draft. A successful save removes the corresponding draft. If the original changes, save a separate copy to avoid overwriting it. Drafts are excluded from Markless iCloud document sync. Explicit deletion of an individual local document preserves its content and required offline resources in local Trash so you can restore a separate document. The backup stays until you explicitly delete it permanently, and remains available if restoration fails. Trash is excluded from Markless iCloud document sync. A restored new document can synchronize as an ordinary library document when sync is enabled. Clearing recent files and automatic eviction do not create recovery copies. Deletion on all devices and received cloud deletion create no recovery copy and remove existing local Trash records for that original. Trash is not a backup for every deletion path. Permanently deleting a recovery backup does not delete documents already restored from it.
Optional iCloud
The app explains the sync scope and asks you to confirm before enabling it. It then uses your current Apple account and Markless's dedicated Apple iCloud Drive document container to synchronize original documents, required offline resources, display names, folders and favorites. Sync needs network access and uses your iCloud storage. Drafts, Trash, thumbnails and export caches are not uploaded to that document container. No separate Markless account or custom server is used. An on-device account fingerprint separates sync state. An Apple account change pauses synchronization until you confirm again. Disabling sync keeps local and existing cloud copies; it does not delete cloud content. Local deletion keeps cloud copies. Delete on All Devices requires confirmation and propagates deletion; offline devices receive it after connecting and synchronizing. An upload confirmation does not prove another device has downloaded the content. Apple handles iCloud data under its service terms, privacy policy and your account settings. System backups may include local app data depending on your settings. Exclusion from Markless document sync does not mean exclusion from all system backups. Keep your own backup of important originals.
Clipboard, Photos and sharing
The foreground entry only checks whether text is present. Clipboard content is read only after you tap the system Paste control. Saving images requests add-only Photos access and does not read your photo library. Files are handed to another app only after you select a system share destination; they are not sent automatically. Manage copies in Photos, Files, other apps and system backups in those respective locations.
Document rendering
Documents render in an on-device WebView. HTML scripts are disabled by default and can be enabled by you for local execution. Document network requests and external resources remain blocked. Images, PDFs, Word and Excel files are generated locally without cloud rendering. Generated Word and Excel files can be viewed in native system previews before sharing. Optional iCloud synchronization is a separate network feature, so this policy does not claim every app operation is offline.
Website and support
The product website is separate from the app. Hosting infrastructure may process IP addresses, requested paths and other technical information for delivery, security and troubleshooting. This notice does not claim that server logs are absent. If you email support, we receive the information you choose to send to respond. Do not send passwords, verification codes or unrelated private material.
Deletion, changes and contact
Delete local documents, permanently delete Trash records or discard drafts in the app. For cloud content, use Delete on All Devices and verify sync on each device. Removing the app does not automatically remove existing iCloud, Photos, Files or other-app copies.
